Layla is Playing With Her Angels
Today is such a sad day, sweet Layla Grace lost her fight to Neuroblastoma. I have been following her story for quite some time and especially lately on Twitter and her blog laylagrace.org. When I logged into Twitter this morning and did not see an update, I just knew. Here is what Shanna (her mom) posted this afternoon: Layla went to play with the angels early this morning. Rest in peace precious Layla. 11/26/2007 - 3/9/2010.
My stomach has been in knots all day and my heart is broken. I'm sooo sad today. I held Brody so much tighter. I looked at him all day thinking this was the age that Layla was when they found out she had cancer. I hugged Blake tight when he got home from school thinking of Layla's nine year old sister Jenna (Blake is 9). How does a nine year old cope after losing a baby sister? I pray for their peace and strength to get through the tough days ahead and for God to someday mend their broken hearts. Layla is finally free from her pain. She touched so many lives including mine and my only hope that one day a cure can be found for this particular type of childhood cancer.
I adore this picture of Layla Grace looking up at her daddy. It's almost if she's asking if everything will be ok. It's hard to believe this was taken a few weeks ago. Play with your angels sweet baby!

Spring Break is just around the corner!
The kiddos have one more week of school until Spring Break officially begins. Oh...how I'd love to be going here to Destin, Florida, but this year with a 15-month old and a 10 hour car trip, that's just not gonna work! This year we are planning on staying close to home and maybe next year we will go to Florida. I don't know about you, but I am soooo looking forward to having my kids at home with me. I really miss them during the day (until the minute they hop in the car and the fighting begins)! :-) What are you plans?

Funky Tutus
I have been busy lately with all kinds of orders for tutus, bow holders, bows, finishing up Sweet & Sassy order and working on goodies to put in another boutique. I always like to know stories behind why my customers order from me. I have done several tutu sets for birthday party gifts, for the birthday girl to wear, for two friends to wear in their circus themed ice skating competition routine and the two latest ones..for some teens. One is wearing my Bad to the Bone tutu to her prom and the other one is a funky mix of colors to wear to a Jay-Z concert in New York. I love it!! I took Sydney and her friend Brooklyn to an old beat up fast food joint that closed and used the blue wall for my backdrop. These were the two circus tutus that I made. It was a super windy day out, so you don't really get to see the full effect, but I love how all the colors pop!

Happy Birthday to my sweet love!!
Tim's birthday is today, he turned 38!! Ok, wow, since he is older than me, I can say that 38 seems so scary. It's two years away from 40!!! It's how old Tim's mom was when I met her 19 years ago. I think 38 really bothers Tim, but I always tell him age is just a number, it's all about how you feel! When it's my turn, I need to take my own advice! We had a great time with our family (all 16 of us) at Carrabbas (one of our most favorite restaurants ever). Our table was so long. It was so nice to catch up with everyone and dad was such a trooper sitting in an uncomfortable chair/standing after breaking his pelvis skiing in Vail three weeks ago. Love you all!! Excuse the blurry/dark picture, this was taken with my cell phone.

Rodeo Hoe-Down
Every year at school, the kids have their annual "Hoe-Down" to kick off the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. For weeks, they practice learning little country songs and dances and it ends with the Cha-Cha slide with the parents participating . It's such a big deal at school, parents and grandparents are all over the place - the whole gym was full. I went to Sydney's Hoe-Down and Tim was able to skip out of work for a few hours for Blake's. I saw a super-cute idea for cowboy boots at Uniquely Different Junk and wanted to re-create them for Sydney. I'm not sure how she makes hers, but I took different pieces of fabric and used Mod Podge to glue the pieces all over the boots that I found at Payless for $24.99 (much cheaper than Cavender's). I think they turned out pretty darned cute if I say so myself!
